As we were about to cross the Kimberley, Margaret and Phil had the terrific idea to join us for a few weeks. After they picked up their campervan from Darwin we met in Kununurra. We first relaxed at Lake Argyle before we decided to tackled the Gibb River Road all the way to Broome. Some river crossings, a fair bit of corrugated / dusty road yet again for us, but no punctured tyre, thank God! Other travellers weren’t that lucky. We explored the great variety of gorges, walking and cooling off in small waterholes whenever possible as the temperature was in the high 30s. Laughters and good tucker were plentiful along the way,… phone connection was not (!). We even got up in the air in a tiny tiny plane. Thank you Jean-Philippe for sticking with us despite your fear of flying.

Argyle Diamond Mine, we didn’t see any from 6000 feet

Ivanohe crossing
Ord River Rum factory

hot, loooong rocky walk to Emma Falls, El Questro!

Hi , Your trip looks amazing, you have taken some beautiful photos .The meals you are preparing out in the back of beyond look pretty good too. Nev and I have just bought a caravan , so we are grey nomads now, planning to do a trip down South soon . Take care, Love Heather and Nev .xx
What a wonderful way to farewell your friends… with a fondue and such great company. I must say I don’t know how you can swim knowing there are freshies in the water! How many kilometres have you covered so far? I think the photos must be published together with a story… would be a best seller in Switzerland for sure!!!
Australia is certainly a contrasting and beautiful country. Your photos are fantastic and I’m sure you’re having a great time. Nice to have some company as well. Safe travels.
